Notes for Each Committee

 

For GSB Meeting Agenda for Monday August 20th, 8 pm

 

New Business

 

Motion carried at the 2012 WSC planning conference for next WSC to happen in Los Angeles in speculative months of August, September, or October.

Recommended Deadline for location and event time decisions to be made by next GSB meeting September 20th.

 

Recommendation 1 that media committee be sub-committee of literature committee not the technology group.

 

Recommendation 2 that there be coordination between the committees and understood allocation of functions by all committees via the GSB.

 

Recommendation 3 for a 6-8 weeks hiatus from starting new

Phone meetings. This allows time for committee housekeeping,

and  handle expansion with integrity.

 

Debate- Please avoid the language of ‘NO’ with the phone meetings. Please encourage more phone members to the Monday GSB meeting to discuss the phone procedures.

 

 

 

General Records

 

Recommendation 4 that there is a list posted of committee chairs with phone #s and emails either in Google Docs or Google groups.

 

Recommendation 5 that protocol is

  1. a)   Secretary produces synopsis report
  2. b)   GSR logs in to view report
  3. c)   GSR reports to home group the decisions made by committee
  4. d)   Group has right to appeal for referendum

 

Debate

  1. a)  Should we  budget $25 for each update for website?
  2. b) Are we too vulnerable having our inner workings featured in a public website?

 

Future Business

 

Recommendation 6 for public out reach to people of color

 

Recommendation 7 for a committee for public out reach to hospitals and institutions.

Agenda for Literature Committee

 

Recommendation (see Recommendation 1) that media, formerly in the technology committee, becomes a sub-committee of literature.

 

Debate World Conference approved literature has been reserved for the written word and ‘not written’ is public domain. Does this still hold.

 

Recommendation 8 to formalize that the tape recordings available as literature are not to be confused with PSA Public Service Announcements.

 

Recommendation 9 that Ed donates master copies with our own copyrights  for the website and ITunes.

 

Debate

  1. a) Written by fellowship must be conference approved
  2. b)  Oral tradition is public domain.
  3. c)  Which applies to media?

Agenda for Finance Committee

 

Recommendation 10 for finance committee to devise a spending plan

 

Announce self-imposed DEADLINE for draft.

 

 

Finance committee execute> Where and how to post?

 

What process are expenses approved?

 

Create accountability and then report to GSB.

 

 

Recommendation 11 for an open PRG for a group mind decision in the actual financial committee. Allow GSB to attend for complete transparency

Agenda for Phone Meeting Committee

 

Recommendation 12 to avoid share competition, have monitor’s record of attendance order determine order of shares.

 

Recommendation 13 for chair of meeting to be of a certain level of recovery before chairing a meeting.

 

Recommendation 14 workshops on chairing phone meetings. Prepare moderators to manage disruptions and invisible phone communication dynamics, and how to adhere to our adapted 12 steps and traditions.

 

Recommendation 15 for 6-8 week hiatus of starting new phone meetings to address housekeeping of the meetings that exist.

 

Recommendation 16 for an 800#.

Agenda for Service Structure Committee

 

Recommendation 17 to have some one on the board to have legal responsibility for all UA.

 

Recommendation 18 that what ever gets accomplished in committee gets shared within three months of next conference.

Agenda for Public Information and Public Relations Triage

 

Recommendation 19 to create and provide a universal template to handle all inquiries.

 

Recommendation 20 to have a Public Info moratorium for at least 3 months until template is created that will insure the anonymity of UA members.

 

Members motivated to keep guidelines for public information held to a template determined by the 12 steps and traditions, no last names to protect anonymity, and to make sure there is a disclaimer that what is written are the views of the author are not endorsed by UA.

 

DEBATE that the template for public info policy would be to quote the 11tth tradition in it’s entirety (principle of attraction versus promotion.)

 

Alice, a special worker dealing with the press for DA, reports a successful model for videos with journalists abiding by the wisdom of DA anonymity.

 

Recommendation 21 to create a public outreach strategy for hospitals, institutions, and people of color.

 

Recommendation 22 to make in house public service announcements that are conference approved to be separate from donated videos from the literature archives.
