Prior Minutes
In the absence of the minutes from the previous meeting, Mike recapped the discussion.
Treasurer’s Report
Andrew reported by email that there is currently $2,100 in the NY Intergroup fund.
A motion was passed that the Treasury Report should follow a standard format, include the previous balance, the cash inflows and outflows during the intervening period, and the closing balance.
The Treasurer’s Report was tabled until next meeting. Peter will follow up with Andrew to get the additional information.
Old Business
Email Lists
A motion was passed that the members of the old events-oriented email list would be asked if they object to be added to the new NY Intergroup email list.
Mike will reach out to Lisa P to get control of the NY Intergroup list.
Insurance
The Park Avenue Christian Church requires liability insurance for meetings to be held there. Last year’s premium was $440. The meeting at the church has the money in hand to pay this year’s premium.
The insurance covers meetings in the five boroughs. Ed will make sure the new meetings are listed when the insurance is renewed.
It is possible the insurance will also cover the World Service Conference. Ed has a query into the insurance provider about this.
Elections
Apart from the Treasurer, Andrew, the NY Intergroup currently has no active officers. The following positions all have a one year term:
- Chair: leading intergroup meetings; coordinating group activities.
- Treasurer: liaising with GSB Treasurer; revenue collection and disbursements; accounting.
- Secretary: taking and distributing meeting minutes; maintaining Gmail group; making announcements.
- Event Coordinator: planning and coordinating for special events.
- GSB Delegate: liaison between Intergroup and GSB; representative of Intergroup at World Service Conference.
The elections were tabled until the next meeting.
2013 Events
World Service Conference will be help in Los Angeles in August.
A motion was passed to establish a procedure to organize monthly 4-hour weekend events, to be called “Regional Share-a-Days,” starting in February, with a $10 entry fee, and no catering.
The following options were discussed:
- Locations, possibly including 74 Below, St. Margaret’s, St. Bart’s
- Holding Intergroup meetings immediately beforehand for convenience.
- Holding the events from 2:00-6:00pm, so that Bronx meeting members would have time to arrive.
- Adding evening dining and/or entertainment options once the events get going.
Volunteers are needed to organize the events.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be Saturday, February 9, at 1:30 pm in Zaro’s (Broadway & 21st).
