Old Business

Passed motions in bold.

Share-A-Day Event Inventory

Jeri:

  • Wonderful for first Intergroup event
  • Organizers need to set up early, as people arrive early
  • It was disruptive to switch the room around during the event
  • Some people had trouble hearing, and a microphone would have helped
  • It might have been better to only have Q&A for one of the sessions, and allow sharing in the other sessions.

Ira:

  • Really good.
  • Grateful that someone donated his admission fee, this gave him a sense of inclusion.

Peter:

  • Would like to see workshops and help organizing action meetings at future events.
  • Would like a larger space if we can find one; failing that, prior registration (e.g., register 100 people, expect 75 to show).
  • Would like to see relevant non-UA literature at future events: AA Big Book, 12&12, Earn What You Deserve.

Chris:

  • Confused about registration, it should be a service position.
  • Overall it was very good.
  • Was expecting action groups and workshops from the flyer.
  • Flyer needs to match the actual schedule!

Ed:

  • About as good as it could be.
  • Good that it was not a regular meeting format—we saw serious recovery.
  • Would like another event like it in two months.
  • Would like a policy of asking speakers to repeat in six months or so, so people can see further change.

Annie:

  • Did not attend; sponsee said it was great.
  • Liked that speakers were “fresh blood.”

Sam:

  • Did not attend; sponsor was excited about speaking.
  • Would like to see action meetings.

Mike:

  • The room set-up was a surprise, but switching the chairs around was necessary.
  • The last time we rented a microphone, it was $100.
  • Organizers did a fantastic job, especially Connie, Jeff & Lisa.
  • Having new blood talk was really good.
  • Would like to see one speaker per hour, more sharing.
  • Wants to do an event in September—the UA Retreat is in November.
  • It was great that it was a half day.
  • Would like to see stipends for people who can’t afford admission.

Distributing Meeting Lists

NY intergroup will continue printing and distributing meetings lists to groups for free; Peter will add a section crediting the NY Intergroup for printing the lists, and asking that individual and group contributions to support literature and events be sent to the P.O. Box.

World Service Conference

Sam presented his spending plan:

Flight (est.) $500.00
Registration, room & board $370.00
Incidentals, including airport transfers (est.) $200.00
Total Expenses (est.): $1,070.00

Sam will be given $500 to cover airfare; any money left over will be applied to the cost of incidentals; if it costs more, Sam will be reimbursed; Sam will register for the conference.

UA Retreat

A commitment was made at last year’s UA Retreat to repeat the event this year (the Bill Wilson House is difficult to reserve). Last year’s event cost people around $70 for food, and $130-180 for the rooms; 28-30 people went, about half from NY, the rest from Ma, Me & Vt.

A committee will be formed to organize the event. Mike will lead this effort for the time being, and see if Dion is interested in helping again.

Next Share-A-Day

A committee will be formed to organize the next Share-A-Day, and report back back with possible dates in August. Wayne will lead this effort for the time being.

Next Meeting

  • Saturday, July 13, 1:00-2:30pm, Zaro’s.
  • The following topics were not covered at this meeting and are carried over to the agenda for the next meeting:
    • Stipends towards WSC attendance
    • Liability insurance (currently paid by Park Avenue Prosperity)
    • Support for group inventories; suggesting groups hold group inventories
    • Promoting UA Anon, etc.
    • Outreach Officer (to interface to NY groups without an ISR)
    • Intergroup By-Laws
    • Business meeting formats
  • Please contact Peter S. with additional items for the agenda.
